Front End Loader Operator

The Front End Loader Operator is responsible for operating a CAT 982 rubber tire loader to strip and prep the site and to push material closer to the feeder for processing. Maintains adequate feed of materials and stockpiles, as required. Must be able to maintain production level operating pace, safely and efficiently.


• Operates straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas.

• Performs the day-to-day activities of a plant; duties could include tasks associated with maintaining the stationary equipment of various plants.

• Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and uses joy-stick to operate loader. Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front-end loader forward to force bucket into bulk material. Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material.

• Performs assignments outlined by supervisors and standard procedures are followed in the performance of duties. Ensures work is inspected periodically for safety and economy.

• Maintains equipment in proper working order; maintains/reviews maintenance logs

• Maintains an effective system of communications with supervisors, drivers and crew, laborers and operators, and customers serviced.

• Safely operates loader and performs mechanic and general labor duties.

• Performs all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Loads bins to ensure appropriate stock levels and load haul trucks while maintaining safe area for stock piling and customer load out.

• Maintains berms in appropriate areas.

• High school or equivalent

• At least 2 years of experience as a 398HP, 78k lb, 10-yard bucket (or similar class device) rubber tire loader operator

• Able to operate FE Loader loading bulk aggregate material in a fast-paced, high production environment

• Mechanically inclined

• Ability to follow instructions, maintain good housekeeping around the mining site

• Prior work experience preferred working in or around heavy equipment, sand and gravel, construction or asphalt 


• Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather, conditions, environments and seasons and perform moderate physical labor in a safe manner.

• Required to wear standard personal protective equipment to include hard hat, safety glasses, safety boots, fire retardant clothes, gloves, and occasionally/possibly, a face shield.

• Position requires the ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds

• Occasionally lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds  

• Typically bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis

• Overtime, weekend work and shift work (day and night) may be frequently required.
